A 700B Fiscal Package is under review to give out LOANS to companies in need of capital to sustain their company. This plan is under great scrutiny for reasons that are beyond me. I WILL ADMIT the following points:

1. Financial Companies were irresponsible in lending. They are primarily to blame for this mess.
2. Financial Company CEOs and board members should be charged with punitive damages and like the govt plan is...should not make more than the top Federal employee.

What I do NOT understand is why people are so opposed to this fiscal package. Here are some arguments I've heard.

1. Why are MY DOLLARS being used to bail out financial companies who were so irresponsible with loans?
My Response: Well let's see here. The economy is in ruins. If banks don't lend money to companies then everything about the economy stops. Like...want to cure cancer? OH WAIT, you can't cause there's no FUNDING. Want to start a new company? OH WAIT, you can't cause the banks are loaning to you cause they have no money. Financial companies are massive these days and they affect all parts of the economy. If the financial sector goes down they will be taking EVERYONE with it.
My Response 2: Not only were financial companies irresponsible, but people who took out loans on the assumption that their property would appreciate in value are to blame too. You basically took out a loan without being able to pay it off. You were ASSUMING that you would have enough because your property value would rise. Tsk tsk, you lost and now you expect the government to bail you out and yet you oppose the financial policy to lend to the financial sector? Hypocrite.

2. Paulson is just going to make his friends rich.
My Response: Yes, trying to make the US a better place economically is horrible. ABSOLOUTELY UNTHINKABLE. He wants to make the US not bleed money and end up back in the 1930's.

More to come...i need to eat.

French can suck it

WOW! Watching the Olympics for the first time is pretty awesome. Well not the first time but the first time i've really paid attention to a lot of events. Pretty much what i want to say now...is that the French can suck it. Their proclamation that they would "destroy" the US (hinting at the 400m relay) was destroyed when the US beat the French by .08 of a second! Good job US Relay Time! Garrett Weber-Gale, Jason Lezak and Phelps, i dunno how Lezak pulled off catching up to French's anchor but he did it and out-touched him at the end. Swimming is intense!

My Comments:

US Men's Gymnastics - I'll be happy with Bronze, Silver would be a surprise to me. They got a lot of work especially with sticking landings cause that's really hurting them. I feel the US Men's Team is kind of unreliable and I'm on the edge of my seat the entire time thinking that someone is going to fall.

US Women's Gymnastics - Shawn Johnson is amazing...flawless events. The other girls seem very young and a few of them committed some pretty major mistakes but I hope they'll ramp it up in the finals. I wouldn't be surprised if they went out with the silver...the Chinese women have made their share of mistakes...i think it's anyone's game.

US Swimming - Well, it's cliche but i look forward to watching Michael Phelps, but i want to see diving too and see what other Americans are going to do when Phelps stops going to the Olympics. Something I didn't realize is that I'm watching history in the making as Phelps is quickly becoming the BEST Olympian in the history of the games. The MOST gold medals out of anyone and maybe the most of anyone in one round of Olympic games.

This will be interesting!

Return of the Car!

So on Saturday 6/7/08 I was notified on the location of my car! I was playing pool with Hien at the HUB at UW and then I received a call from a local. The caller was wondering if I wanted to roll down the windows of my car since it was going to rain and has been drizzling a bit beforehand. I told the caller that my car has been stolen for 2 weeks and then I ran to the location of my car. It was about a mile away from where my car was stolen.
So I got to my car and then I assessed the damage. The car is okay and actually what's weird is that everything is still in the car. My stereo is still there and my CDs are all accounted for as well. The only thing my car needed was a jump start and some drive time to recharge the battery.
The only damage was in the seats and cloth since the car has definitely gotten some rain into it. So I cleaned it all up with some bathroom cleaners for mildew and mold and then some carpet cleaners. It does smell so I sprayed some Febreeze in it so hopefully that'll change the smell. We'll have to see. Now I need to prepare for the arrival of my family for the graduation ceremony and get prepared to saying good-bye to a few more friends. It's going to be a doozy this week!

Car Stolen

Well, two weeks ago my car got jacked from a friend's apartment's parking lot. This occured in the U-District near Greek Row. These two weeks have sucked not having a car. There's a lot of things I want or wanted to do that requires a car and i hate taking public transit everywhere. I prefer have the freedom to do whatever I want whenever. Going through drive-throughs when I don't feel like cooking is a definite plus too. It's no good being without a car. I hope the police find it soon so i can pick it up and assess the damage. The recovery rate is 86-90% so I hope I fall into the percentages but I don't know how long it might take for the car to be found. If the car is illegally parked then I should get a call soon once it has accumulated enough tickets but if it's legally parked then I could be screwed for awhile since it won't be reported by locals and the police won't go and check it out.

So if you guys in Seattle ever see a Green Honda Accord with License Plate 503-UFE call the police! But I woke up and decided to start my free-day somehow by surfing the net. I need a hobby. Anyway, if anyone knows anything about the Wii well there's a new Wii Wheel that came out with Mario Kart. It's basically an a model wheel where you put your Wii remote (Wiimote) in. So here's a pretty cute picture

Reminiscing of Taiwan

Wow it has been a LONG time since my last post. But I need a time-sink again. It's June 5th 2008 and i'm about to finally graduate from the University of Washington. One of the things I did first to think of a post was to look at flickr. All I found were pictures of Loveboat which is a program that shows ABCs (American Born Chinese) around the island to learn about the areas. So here's some images and some summaries of my trip. More will come just you all wait!

Meeting new people is always fun. Here I am with two very outgoing twins haha getting my mack on! This was taken at the Taiwan National Zoo I believe but i'm not entirely sure. It was obviously raining which was a relief because it was so hot in Taiwan over the summer!

This was fun and posed picture was at a re-creation of what a city would look like in the past but this just looks like a fun picture lol. Plus it's one of the few I guess that I'm in and not looking too bad!

Two friends, Angela and Steven. Two of Four friends that I made on this trip who live in the country up north called Canada! They were my source of entertainment and of support whenever things got bad. This was picture was taken on the coast in the Southern tip of Taiwan. Very hot day it was sweltering!

This resident badass is George and he's standing in our room which crammed 7 guys into one room. Dude those were good times. We and some of our friends would sit around the small TV and eat instant noodles (which were delicious more so than in the ones in the US). It was simple and fun and it was great to be lazy haha. I really miss those days because it was always so fun to go somewhere new without having to plan ahead. You just do that the summer program tells you to do. I wish I could go back! But anyway George doesn't have a REAL gun it's just a bee bee gun. We also fired pellets at the Ricky Martin pictures behind him.

This is a great example of how guys can be mischievous when bored. This was an on-going joke during the program where we'd pester each other while we slept or while we were taking a nap. My roommates were really open about their sexuality. It was always worth a laugh and it was nice to always be surrounded by caring friends. George makes a re-appearance (he's the guy with the glasses), Chris is on top and Andy is on the bottom. Great guys, great friends. I should contact them!

All great times have to end! Sadly this was taken on the last day of the program. This was at the end of the last ceremony and we all dressed up for the occasion. The girl crying is our awesome translator and counselor for the program. It was a very emotional period as we all had to say goodbye to each other and go our own ways.

I haven't seen anyone from Loveboat for a long time but I've been in contact with a few. Not as many as I'd like but hopefully I'll get in contact with them and start visiting them again. I really want to start traveling to various places in the US and Canada. I want to see how people's attitudes have changed over the years and see what happens. I remember the pain of having to say goodbye to a lot of people and I've already begun the process of leaving some friends. It's not going to be easy but I hope in the future we'll always have some connection and be able to catch up and talk. Hope everyone likes this post and i'll come up with more so entertain you all!

Lovely Winter Snowland

Well something very rare has occured in my life...it has snowed in Seattle and the stuff is stickign to the ground. In fact, it stuck so well...the melted snow is becoming ice! This means messy roads and weird bus paths. My dad called me cause he was watching Seattle vs. Green Bay (where the officiating sucked) and it was snowing. But my dad thought it was Green Bay cause of the low temperatures and well..snow! But no, it is in fact Seattle. Here are some pics for yall to feast your eyes on:

The only things probably thicker and harder than my head ^_^

Stairway to a Slipper's Death

Outside of my apartment...after it snowed!

Picture of the Quad...

More to come when i don't feel that lazy ^_^

Discovery of the Week

The most startling and costly mistake (and life lesson) of the week...is that boiling water can crack glass...yup....i discovered this fact while pouring hot water in a glass cup so maybe i could pour the hot water more easily into my ramen. I attended Loveboat which is an overseas youth tour...this program's nickname is Loveboat because a lot of the "youth" there tend to hook up with each other. Rumors of unexpected pregnancies and sexual intercourse have given the camp the nickname Loveboat. The tour is not based on a boat despite what you would think..it's purely land based. Anyways...i'll let some of the pictures tell some of the story for Loveboat was not just a time to enjoy the sites for me...it was also a time that made me look inward toward myself. It was a time when i had fun with many people, but it also showed me what i need to work on to improve myself. Don't get me wrong! it was a fun trip but there were many serious moments.

This post is dedicated to all my roommates @ Loveboat and Frankie too cause he was a big part of our group but he didn't live with us xD.

First of all...my roommates and i were all clutzes *is that a word?*. We did a lot of weird things at night and it was just...odd...like jumping into people's bed @ random times.

There were 8 guys/girls to one room and my room was awesome! I loved hanging out with them because they were all really active and open. I love my roommates and we were all comfortable with each other. There were always girls and other friends in our room which was fun but became a burden sometimes when i wanted to sleep ^_^ but it's all good. My roommates were there to entertain me but they were also there to support me. Whenever i had troubles at camp they would ask what was wrong and help me out. We were all willing to listen to each other and at Loveboat i did a lot of soul searching. My friends were always there for me and i wish i hung out with them more.

Here's a lot of my rooommates...basicalyl all of'em are except the girl obviously haha. This was at the Farewell Party...the last event of the camp and we all dressed up and went. It was basically a last time to congregate together and take pictures of everyone nicely dressed.

Some friends @ a restaurant. haha nothing to say here...starting left to right...Chris the Flirt, George the Mouth, Rita, Zong the Austrian, and Lydia ^^.

I just like this picture! i think it looks cool. People from left to right...Me, Chris, and Yummy (his name is Yang Yang i think but we ended up just calling him Yummy for a month)

This is the group's first venture into the MRT, Taiwanese subway system). Basically we all didn't know what to do but thankfully one of us kinda did. the MRT is awesome not just for transportation, which is very inexpensive and efficient, but also for shopping and eating! There were a lot of good places to eat down there and everything is air conditioned! Food and shopping in one area...what else do people need?

WoW....true nerds

omg
i am so embarassed i play the game these people are acting out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO7Nh2NzzdM

Sorry Nicole...post will be coming soon...having a problem with Flickr!

Anime Philosophy

I believe that in American society, Anime is considered a childish cartoon that only nerdy guys with thick glasses and pimples watch. Anime is a cartoon; however, i don't believe that people understand the complexities of anime. I know a lot of anime is geared toward younger audiences; however, there are many anime series that deal with very mature topics that the general public overlook. I do not believe it is right to generalize anime as a childish show at all. Most people would argue that it is a cartoon and cartoons are strictly for kids and leave it at that. I argue that generalization with two anime series i have recently watched.

Gungrave
------
Gungrave is basically a story of a man, Brandon Heat, who worked for a syndicate. He and his more active partner, Harry Macdowel, quickly climbed to the top of the syndicate. However, Brandon was betrayed and killed by Harry and Brandon was brought back from the dead to take his revenge. There are so many mature themes in this series...i think it's impossible to think this is a "kid series." This series deal heavily with loyalty, betrayal, and death. After watching the series i cannot help but think of the theme of death. The series basically says that life is a giant circle. Kids obtain innocence and these are the golden days. Then adolescents kicks in and power is gained. Finally, power drives the rest of the life and the powerful wish to go back to the time of innocence. To complete the circle, the powerful adults die to be reborn as children to reobtain their lost innocence. I can't help to think that this is a powerful theme...i don't believe anyoen can deny this fact. As a very young adult, i think back to when i was jaded and spoiled and i kind of wish to go back to the time when my troubles were so simple. As i grew older i was given more responsibility and more power. Now i kind of wish to go back and maybe death will grant me hte ability to go back to when i was a child. It's a very interesting theory and it does make sense...i recommend picking up or downloading this series if anyone is interested. It's a very violent (gun heavy) series but very philosophical. It's a great thinker series and it really does touch on a lot of very serious topics.

Gundam Seed
--------------
Big robots fight it out. This series is all about war and everything that results from war. Man-kind has split into two "species," naturals and coordinators. Naturals are humans born naturally and with unaltered genes. Coordinators are humans who's genes have been manipulated to give them greater potential than Naturals. Coordinators are by nature stronger and smarter than Naturals. Conflict occurs and the Naturals fire an atomic warhead into space stations that house coordinators, PLants. Then a war begins...
This series really hits the common theme about humanity's behavioral similarity to viruses. One man believes that men must be purged of this universe because humans are basicaly viruses. Humans only consume and when they exhaust their host, leave to infect another host. What are the people's counter-argument? I see similarities and i can't help wonder if it's really true...how are humans part of nature's cycle? As much as i know...humans have only polluted the planet and risen to the top of the food chain.
Another huge theme is war and peace. How can peace be obtained through war? Is the process of war and peace an endless waltz through time? Even today i don't know a good argument as to how war leads to peace. I wish that technology hasn't become so advanced. I remember that back in the day, wars were fought through valor and strength. HUndreds of thousands of people would die in battle and the mass deaths would send a message to the people that war is terrible. Now war is so impersonal. War is fought through sniper scopes, tanks, and airplanes. Sure the loss of life is minimal; however, how will the world attain peace if there is no signal to the people that war is bad. People will remain apathetic. Look at the news, i don't see as much hype over the soldiers giving their lives to safeguard American ideals. I think of the soldiers a lot and i could probably never do what they do, which is to risk and sometimes give their lives for people they've never met. I would fight if my family or friends were endangered, but i wonder if i'm brave enough to fight for my country.

Back to the point of this mini essay...Anime is obviously not a kids series...i don't believe this at all. I kind of get angry when ppl say that i'm always watching cartoons. I think cartoons carries around a common label as something only little kids watch. I believe now that Anime carries the same spectrum of maturity as normal tv...i don't understand why people think that watching regular tv is any different, from a maturity stand point, to anime.

Love is Weird

Something weird that i've been observing is the phenomenon known as love. Love has been ridiculed and appreciated by the entire world. Some people believe love is just a misguided feeling and that no such feeling exists. Other people believe love is what binds all living things together. What i did not expect from love was the fact that love can make people defy common sense. I've recently observed that even though a person knows his or her partner is flawed...he/she still continues to be with her. Even though it is obvious that the partner is selfish and cannot think of other people that might not be directly related to him, he/she does not leave him. This defies my perception of common sense because this is a huge character flaw. I don't quite understand how this action or lack of action is justified. I guess love is the most powerful emotion a human being can feel; however, what does that mean about love's evil cousin, hate? Is hate not love too?

Hate- a : intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury

Love-strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties

The two are polar opposites yet maybe the two are so far apart...they couldn't be anymore close. If two objects on Earth try and be infinitely apart...they're basically next to each other. This could be crazy talk of course if you don't know what's going exactly inside of my head. Everything in life is so intriguing because i cannot break it down to its base units and describe the exact process to lead to the end product.

A side topic is about computers...i can't understand how this hardware works. What function do the semiconductors in the hardware have in the machine? How does the computer send and translate information at blinding pace from bits of electronic impulses into an image on a computer screen? How does the internet or bluetooth work? I don't understand how electronic signals can be made into images...it all seems so complicated to me. I think it'd be great if I could design a real version of the SeaQuest hahah! i want to learn; however, i'm afraid the path is too hard to walk. Hardware knowledge is all about engineering and i'm no good at sciences and it's sooo much work. So many questions unanswered...it's amazing how everybody in the isn't feeling the same curiosity i am!

WoW.....no posts in a month!?

Hey all, i just noticed that i haven't posted in a month! holy crap life has really gone by quickly! Spring break was really relaxing since my friends hadn't come back till the last two days until i had to go back to school. I played with the neighbor's dog and went hiking with my parents! I feel a lot better with myself and life has been going very smoothly. I am not going out as much as i used to primarily because i feel i've gotten a lot more mellow. THere are plenty of things i can do by myself at home so i dun have to seek outside things to do. Sure if my friends call and i'm up for it, i'll go out and i have been going out from time to time. I'm pretty content at the moment with just playing games. I find that it's really stressful to have to go out all the time. I've come to accept more things about myself. I've accepted the fact that i do think a lot. I think about the little things in life and how they relate to the world. For example, in Washington there has been a big anti smoking campaign in the city of Seattle.
There are a lot of signs on buses in seattle that have a picture of a doll and her face is bloody and the doll is holding a rat in her hands. Basically the doll took a bite out of the rat and the motto of the whole story is, "Kissing a smoker is just as gross." I really ponder to myself if this is some type of discrimination. Of course this isn't literal discrimination since the definition does not apply but the ad is discouraging ppl from associating themselves with smokers since they're all probably people that eat rats. I believe that the world's methods of filtering out what it dislikes is becoming more and more subtle. At first glance i think ppl will just think that we shouldn't smoke but the ad also says that we shouldn't associate ourselves romantically with smokers too.
On a more happy note i've been playing a lot of computer games and class hasn't been too hard so life has been doin gpretty well. Everything is starting to become routine and i'm a lot happier hehe. Although i haven't talked to Nicole in a few weeks....=---/ Gimme a call sometime Sis! I hope all of you are doing well and keeping busy! I need to pay attention in lecture...i've been blogging almost hte entire time hahah! Sorry Dad, your tuition dollars at work ^_^ jk!

Life in the Present

What's up all you non-commenting readers ^_^. Haha jk, i'm pretty bored at school right now and i dun have class for an hour and a half. I can't play games cause for some reason this computer doesnt' detect my IPOD which kind of blows; however, this allows me to update this blog! ^_^. I sadly don't have pictures cause i've been pretty lazy. Maybe in the next week if i find the time or energy or willpower hehe.

First of all, some people have too much time on their hands. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-dungeons&t=143561&p=1&tmp=1#post143561 a game is a game and i'm fine with a few fanatics but good lord if you have the time to make up your own calculations and analysis....then i think someone needs to meet the Sun. In Seattle however, the Sun likes to play hide and seek a lot ^_^ so the Sun and i have gotten a little farther apart.

So yeah life....ummmmm. I've just been reading, cleaning, gaming, and cooking haha. homework has been pretty low and classes are doing pretty well. Mainly my stress is comign from maintaining the apartment. I've been trying to cook more instead of just buying my meals since it's cheaper. I need to grow up and become more independent someday eh? I've been reading a lot more leisure books. I finished a book on dogs, "How Dogs Think" by Stanley Coren. I sure do miss Patchy =/. I've been reading "A Million Pieces" by James Frey. It's pretty disturbing but relevant to me since the main character suffers from depression, anxiety, rage, etc but to an extreme. He's basically in rehab for drugs and alcohol abuse...all taken to its very extreme.

I've been a lot less stressed lately because well i don' thave a crush on anyone hahahah. Life is so much simplier so i'm gonna let life be and take it as it comes. This is how people should think and i'll continue this because it keeps me way less insane ^_^. I can't wait to go home in a few weeks. I get to go back to free meals, mom's cooking, and a bed! There's somethign about home that cannot be exactly described except a strong sense of security. For some reason i feel so much more relaxed and i can't wait to go home hahaha.

Something i thought about yesterday was people's ability to empathize with others on things they themselves have never experienced. For example, is it possible for a person that has never gone through depression to truly understand what a person who is depressed is going through? I've told a few friends that i've been sick with Generalized Anxiety disorder and depression. I've always gotten the suggestion that i should just feel happier and not be more nervous. I still think that although these people are smart, probably smarter than me, it's a stupid suggestion. it's not like i choose to be stressed out and depressed all the time. It's somethign i cannot control...i just feel this way when i wake up in the morning. Nobody can directly control if they feel refreshed or tired when they wake up in the morning. Then my friends kind of shrug it off because they don't understand my viewpoint and i don't understand theirs. They ask why i can't just make myself feel better and i ask, how can i make myself feel better when i've tried so many times before...it just doesn't happen. My observation begs the question....can people that haven't been depressed empathize with me? I find that only people who have been depressed or been diagnosed with a mental illness can really understand my situation and those that have not had the unpleasant experience of going through a mental illness just do not understand. Is this another issue of the have and have nots?

Harry Potter ^_^

So i'm making my daily rounds of cnn.com and i stumble upon a story about the new actresses that will appear in Harry Potter OOTP (Order of the Phoenix duhh!).

So what're your opinions everybody? think you can see this girl as Luna Lovegood? (btw it's Evanna Lynch)

Professor Umbridge will also be played by Imelda Staunton

So any opinions? i think Imelda Staunton seems like a good choice although i have never seen her in any movies....maybe i'm just too young xD. Evanna Lynch...newcomer to the acting business i guess, hrmmm i need to read OOTP again cause i don't quite remember anything other than Dumbledore's Army.....haha ^_^

Hooters has opened its first casino in Las Vegas! This one groundhog has been picked randomly to tell us if we'll have more weeks of winter...but if he sees his shadow. I mean what kind of scientific proof does this groundhog have? hahaha i feel sorry for this groundhog...i kinda get the impression that he's saying "let me go back to sleep you damn old bastards!" Poor groundhog, well he has his own stump and is basically an idol of American society. I guess there's a point in time where you just need to lay down the cards and see how life turns out. I can't hold my cards forever because nobody is willing to wait forever. IN a poker game, when you hold your cards too long, either you lose the hand because the timer runs out or people leave...so i guess it's time to throw down the old issues to get ready for the new ones. I feel like i've been holding onto my past problems and it has just been accumulating on my back until i get exhausted and depressed. So i guess this new day will bring the advent of a new life. It's time for me to reconcile my difficulties and lay my cards down, because the cards are getting too heavy for me to hold.

Something i can't stand right now though is the lack of modesty in the world. Guys are being too aggressive and putting their hands around girls all the time. Then the girls start swooning for the guy cause i guess he's so nice...i dunno. Girls show off their body parts a little too much. Whatever happened to modesty and the old fashioned style of getting the girl you like? Like taking it slow, getting to know the girl first, and then asking her out. I guess i'm too old fashioned =--/ but i believe in respect. I respect the girl enough to get to know her first before becoming too touchy. I don't know why this bothers me so much because it seems like a benign thing. Guys holding random girls' waists and stuff...it just bothers me, i feel like the guys are just going for the one night stand. Why does this bother me so much...

Whistler

Sooo, since obviously i haven't been updating...especially since Novemeber...here's a quickie update on the most recent happenings: Trip to Whistler

Decided to go on a club trip to Whistler obviously. The weather was decent and the slopes were AWESOME! The powder on the higher elevations were thick and the overcrowding concern i had earlier were put to rest. I hung out with some friends and showed them the ropes on how to snowboard. Then i basically went on my own to the advanced slopes ^_^. I did a few blacks and some pretty hard blues and had a lot of fun. I went down a lot of runs and got my money's worth for sure. I was really tired at the end though and i should probably get back to work....*like i ever started*. I'll re-update this later when i have more energy hahaha

Snowboarding in November

Well this winter has been kind of crazy. On Nov. 11 and even before that, snow resorts have opened up their slopes for the season! I was invited to go snowboarding and how can you ever turn down such a great offer eh? Terry and Alice from Tzu Chi were kind enough to invite me to go to Steven's Pass~! It was snowing the entire day but not too hard. I was insulated with 4 or 5 layers of clothing so the cold didn't affect me that much =D. At the end of the day, a little past 3, it was snowing pretty hard so many of the skiiers and snowboarders were pretty discouraged so they left. Terry and I didn't really care so we went up twice in a near blizzard! Okay i might be exagerating but it was impossible to see where the snow ended and the sky began. mY entire vision was all white! it was really hard to see obstacles in my path and changes in elevation because everything blended so well together. It was awesome because i felt some fresh snow with nobody around to bother me! Plus my IPOD was running with some sweet songs so it was a very enjoyable time indeed! Thanks guys! Here's some pics but my camera ran out of batteries...bastard

Me and Joyce

Terry and ALice (Terry is in the orange)

Songs and Obessions

What's up all. I'm making some of my own time right now since i've been studying all day. If you got some time, cash, or DC++ and u haven't already done this...you should check out these bands. I've put in a summary of what i think of each band.

Mae:
This is my favorite band at the moment. I'm 100% not into the heavy metal and hardcore rock bands because i think they're too violent and loud. I can't make out what the singers are trying to say for heavy metal. Mae is really mellow music and has great lyrics if you're the kind of guy or girl who is into songs about love, being alone, or having broken up or hooked up with a significant other. Some testosterone full guys would call me a pussy but sensitivity goes longer than being insensitive and masculine.

Albums:
Destination Beautiful (the great cd, but not better than the Everglow)
*note* Hien, you're wrong...The Everglow is the better CD
The Everglow (the better cd)

Songs to Mention:
The Everglow (MUST GET)
The Sun (The theme song for Destination Beautiful)
Summertime
Suspension

Anberlin:
This is a little bit more intense but still mellow nonetheless. Songs like "Never Take Friendship Personal" are upbeat songs but they don't scream at all and the lyrics are kinda catchy. It's a good mix of songs that range from "fast paced singing in the car" to "feel good in your room with the lights off relaxing." This is probably my second favorite band at the moment.

Albums:
Plans for the Black Market (i think)
Never Take Friendship Personal (i like this album better than the first)

Songs to Point Out:
Never Take Friendship Personal
Amsterdam
Day Late Friend

Those are my favorite songs, pass judgement or recomment some of your own =D. I hate screamo, it sux ok Brian? you too Alex if you're reading

I'm bored...playing with the love calculator

Jeffrey Chen Your Mom

12 % Dr. Love thinks a relationship might work out between Jeffrey Chen and Your Mom, but the chance is very small.

Jeffrey Chen Your Wife

84 % Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between Jeffrey Chen and Your Wife has a very good chance of being successful

Jeffrey Chen Your Son

13 % Dr. Love thinks a relationship might work out between Jeffrey Chen and Your Son, but the chance is very small.

Don't say doing your wife, don't say doing your wife..."doing your...son..." -Peter Griffin

Jeffrey Chen Your Cousin

13 % Dr. Love thinks a relationship might work out between Jeffrey Chen and Your Cousin, but the chance is very small

An Update!

What's up all, it has been a while since my last update. However, i have finally gotten the time to give you all a small summary of the last 1-2 months =D. First, well obviously i'm at Washington, but the new thing is that i have a car! Nicole's 93 Honda is now in my name and therefore MINE MWUAHAHHAHAHAH. My Dad and I drove the Honda from Palo Alto to Seattle in one day. On our way to Seattle, we passed by a particular hospital that Nicole should be familiar with:

This is the hospital in Eugene, Oregon where Nicole Chen was born! We took some time out of our busy schedule to also visit my dad's old graduate college, the University of Oregon. The campus reminds me a little of Stanford...probably because of all the trees. there's also a lot of hospitals called Sacred Heart...

Now that i'm on my own...i need to cook my own meals. That has been a pretty hard task since i'm not always free to invest 1-2 hours to cook and eat. But within the first week i finally made my first dish...Fried Rice with some orange soda on the side! It was pretty good...reminded me of home =D

yummmm

Somethings about cooking aren't really related to the damn process but need maintaining anyway! Like my knife! I found it kind of rusted one day so i panicked and tried rubbing it off with some salt and olive oil (brought to you by internet searches). As i was vigorously rubbing the knife i uhh...accidently sliced by finger pretty badly. Here's the result of my biggest apartment mistake to date!

My finger still has a scar from when that happened. Note to self...when rubbing the knife...make sure the sharp side is NOT FACING YOU...doh....

I have some business news too! My shares of google, which i bought at 345 (at the slight disgust of some family members) has risen to 377! I've only ahdd this stock for about a week and i'm already gaining an 8% profit! Work harder Chang, i'm counting on you!

On the etc side...well i'm procrastinating but i'm also working hard as hell...a little too hard for midterms and assignments. I'm really tired and i could use a vacation. It's going to be raining for the rest of the week here in seattle so it isn't going to lighten up. I've been fooling around facebook too...looking up some acquitances lately and leaving some wall posts =D. Take it easy yall!

Sports Weekend

The weekend that had just passed left a small impression on me that i thought would never happen. On Sunday morning, i actually enjoyed watching golf! I honestly never thought i would acquire a taste for watching a game that i believed to be too repetitive with no action. My criticism of golf can probably be placed onto baseball but i've liked baseball for my entire life =D. I enjoyed watching Wie, Sorenstam, and Park among other professional golfers duke it out in a game of patience and pure skill. The game of golf is a sport where one missed shot can mean the championship. Each additional stroke is crucial to the scoreboard. I have only recently acquired an appreciation for watching the sport. Furthermore, i might actualyl watch more of it! =D. Other than that it was a typical weekend of WoW, studying, and getting my weekly headaches on Sunday...weird. I know i haven't posted many pictures, but i just opened my new memory card reader yesterday and hopefully i will have the time to upload my pictures. It'll be comign soon peoples =D.

Only a better note, here's some news that i found notable from the weekend.

I cheered for Wie's breakthrough into the realm of professional golf. I watched her performance saturday with anticipation and awe at the skill this 16 year old has. I think it's amazing and she will be a huge celebrity probably for my entire life. Guys will oogle her and girls will aspire to be her. I was shocked a little to see that Wie was actually DISQUALIFIED from her professional debut because of a minor technicality. She hit a ball into a bush and dropped the ball a few inches to get a clear shot and apparently it wasn't too far. A reporter alerted the officials a day later (suspicious) and the officials inquiried into it and eventually disqualified Wie because her tee placement could have increased her stroke count by one or two. Let me know Chang if i got any of this wrong =D. It sounds like a minor technicality and i think some ppl are pretty pissed but the rules are rules =/ sorry Wie! (the caddy i think was ultra pissed at the reporter that "snitched")

Fantasy Football
Okay, let's establish the facts before i get into this. This is my first year playing fantasy football and i suck loads. I invested my second pick to Daunte Culpepper because all the analysts were hailing his name like he was the messiah. Sadly, Culpepper and the Vikings have been STRUGGLING at best this year. My team has been absoloutely been dominated. Culpepper had an ok outing last week so i figured he would only get better. Sadly, that is not what happened. I played Culpepper but I SHOULD HAVE played this man:

Jake Plummer will be my savior. This guy has been playing extremely well against all kinds of adversaries. The Broncos have defeated two teams, the Chiefs and the Patrions, that i thought they had no chance to win against. The Broncos are very strong this year and i believe they can go very far assuming everyone stays healthy. Staying healthy 100% healthy is impossible for any team since there will always be injuries. Hard impacts and lots of muscles waiting to slip off the bones will always result in injury. I will now be playing Jake Plummer as my primary QB and hoping that i will be victorious in one game this season! Can I play Gina? We're both L5!

CNN Comments

Headline: CraZy Woman gives birth to 16th Child.

Seriously...16 children and counting? are you crazy woman!? Think of the college tuition...the pain of raising children...these people are cRaZier than Crazy Straws! I'm boggled right now...and bored =D maybe i'll just go home =P

Princeton group promotes chastity

"When you do have sex, you form a bond," said Caroline Chopko, 20, a junior from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

"I remember sitting there and feeling really uncomfortable because every single character had either engaged in premarital sex or was talking about having engaged in premarital sex," said Christian Sahner,

"It's not like we don't dance or have fun," she said.

I think some people think about the ramifications of sex a little too much. Sex is sex and i think some people blow the concept out of proportion by making it this huge deal. My first reaction to the last quote was that of irony. It's not ok to have sex but it's ok to imitate sex to the point of dry humping? But i guess it is ok? I believe sex is not a big deal and i know it's their choice, but i'm just fed up with all this hype about sex ( i know it's ironic that i'm putting more fuel to the fire).

On a brighter note:
Apple unveils video iPod
WooHOoo! I haven't updated in a while because i've been kind of busy and a little lazy all at the same time =D. Basically i've moved back to Seattle for some more schooling at the UW for my undergrad studies =D...my new room is SO much better than my last one in the dorms. It's pretty ridiculous how the two contrast to each other. My last year room was a small ass hexagon shaped room with a roommate and no carpet. Now I have a kitchen, two chairs, a shower i don't need flip flops for and MY OWN ROOM! My room is so much spacier than last year's room it really isn't funny =/. it's a basic looking college room but i haven't been IN a normal college room for so long.
My dad and i drove teh car up from Palo Alto to Seattle in a day too! I have Nicole's old car *the 93 Honda* to carry my butt around the city and campus. It was a cool ride despite being so long. I really didn't have a problem just taking naps and looking at the beautiful scenery. Northern California wasn't too exciting and it didn't look very pretty. Oregon on the otherhand is a BEAUTIFUl state. The trees and the scenery, even from the highway, is very pretty. My dad and i even dropped by his old school, University of Oregon =D. I checked out the campus and it looks like Stanford a little bit *prolly because of the trees*. It looked nice but the surroundings of UoO *University of Oregon* look like crap. Before passing UoO my dad and i drove by Eugene, Oregon *the birthplace NICOLE CHEN. Nicole is the middle child of the soon to be Chen Dynasty of the wealthy. It was funny to drive by a small city where i know my family resided in. My family actually lived in Eugene, Oregon around 5-6 years before i was born =D *simplier times*. The entire trip took 14 hours and 870 miles of driving =D.
I'm having a lot more fun at the UW and less stressed out than last year. I've been keeping up with my studies a lot better than last year. I've simply been working harder and longer with a great attention span which dwarfs last year's mentality. I contribute my boost in determination to Lisa because i see her working so hard all the time i figured i should too! I'm totally serious too Lis and your name came up in one of my chinese textbooks! I've gone to a few parties too on the weekends which helps me loosen up a little. I usually drive to these events since my apartment is pretty far away from the event locations so i never drink duhh. It's worth a Class C Felony *i think* on my record and increased insurance rates just to have a swig of barf tasting water.
I'll hopefully get some pictures online later but i need to go buy a new connector because i believe i left mine at home. I left a few wires at home and it's really bothering me...maybe i'll ask my dad if he has seen them around...take it easy all!

Poker and Headaches for the Last Two Weeks

So lately i haven't been posting much because i've been very lazy. I haven't asked my friends to do anything so there has been nothing exciting for me to do. I think for me to maintain my cheery mood without frequent headaches i need to ask my friends to get together more. My friends and i need some girls to hang out with...although just hanging out with them is awesome! Sadly i don't think any of my friends have the connections but maybe someone can surprise me? Anyway the only good thing happening is playing poker with my friends. So last week synopsis:

Michael Gray...destroyed everyone. Mike is the best liviing embodiment of the saying "it's better to be lucky than good." Mike took down every huge pot or all in with MIRACLE river cards that gave him the winning hand. The most memorable for me is my AK suited against Mike's J4 unsuited. I'm all in for 2 dollars and i lost when Mike spiked the 4 on the river. Mike then continued to devastate Luke and David altho Mike's win against Luke was a 50/50 but Mike continued to lay devastation to his opponents. Mike has also put Nick on permanent tilt which leads Nick to yell profanities at Mike =D.

Wednesday night was a special poker event for the return of Peter Ahn. The table consisted of Mike, Nick, David, Marvin, Brian, Luke, Peter, and Me. I lost my 5 dollars rather quickly by trying out risky reraises and bluffs that i simply cannot pull off anymore thanks to my infamous reputation as p-ro. Brian, Nick, and Luke took the first chip leads while Marvin stayed consistent around the 5 dollar entry level. Peter and I got out early but bought back in. A few hands after buying back in I started to go on a roll. Eventually the Krew got bored of Texas Hold'Em and started to play Omaha and Five Card Draw with 2's wild. The new variations made the night definently more interesting since the addition of 2s wilds. 2 big hands occured during Omaha 2s wild and 5 card draw 2s wild.

Peter took down a huge pot simultaneously eliminating Marvin and Mike. Peter started out with pocket kings and turned a four of a kind!!!! Marvin and Mike had 2 pairs or a pair that got wasted by Peter's 4 of a kind with KINGS! Way to go peter, awesome hand.

Nick took down a hefty hand during five card draw with 2s wild. Nick was dealt an Ace and three 2s! Nick took down the pot with 4 of a kind Aces =D. Too bad Nick didn't have the opportunity to take down Mike but our lucky friend had to leave since he's getting his wisdom teeth removed =( gl there buddy.

Something that has me a little depressed is that today is September 1st! Meaning i have to go back to school in 19 days! There's gonna be a lot of buying and planning i need to get working on. Hopefully i'll get on the ball of my studies too but i kind of need to start sleeping earlier (meaning at 11 or 12PM). I'll keep you all updated on that situation =D

Having Fun at Marine World

Thursday was a pretty exciting day because 5 five friends and I ventured into Vallejo for some fun at Six Flags Marine World. The Crew: David Stringer, Sandy Williams, Nick Price, Alex Yeh, Brian Yeh, Michael Gray, and I spent the entire day watching the wild animals and screaming down rollercoasters. Pictures always tell the story better than just words so have fun!

Here are some penguins just chilling out in the shade.

Here are two dolphina up close and personal!

Me ready to eat some feed for the dolphin =D

Me feeding the dolphin with some small fish!

The crew getting ready for some action on the Medusa rollercoaster!

Part of the crew riding on the Medusa! (Short for "well, hello).
Yesterday was a blast (fragment sentence i know). Brian, Alex, and I went to Raging Waters yesterday to enjoy some sun and watery slopes! The day was very sunny and decently hot and all of us wore sunscreen although none of covered the entire body =/. All three of us got sunburn i think alex and i a little bit but brian comes out of the day as the most sunburn. THe last i saw his entire back was red so that's not really a good sign; however, all three of us dispensed of our farmers tan! At Raging Waters the total ride count is followed:

Serpentine: 4
Dragon Den: 1
Wave Pool: 1
Endless River: 1
Shotgun: 4
Mini Slides: 6
Great White Shark: 1
Barracuda Blaster: 1
White Lightning and Blue Thunder: 11

Yes we did ride White Lightning and Blue Thunder a total of 11 times. Blue Thunder is the better one but i'm gonna go on white lightning =D *inside joke*. White Lightning is the better of the two slides because you can gain air on white lightning and blue thunder you just go faster.
Tragically, I got into an accident at Raging Waters. No not a car accident but a little intertube accident. The Dragons Den attraction features a huge bowl that riders go around several times before going into a hole at the bottom to conclude the ride. Alex and I were almost into the concluding hole but then i wanted to try for another pass but Alex disagreed. The result was that Alex's half of the two-man intertube went in and mine did not. The intertube flipped and i landed on Alex and we came out of the slide all disoriented and upside down =D. THe pain wasn't that bad for me and it was well worth the short lived aches and sores =D. All in all the Raging Waters trip was very enjoyable but i'm looking forward to some Warcrafting now =D

Search for Knowledge

For the past few days, I have been trying to acquire more knowledge about the happenings of the world. I've been reading ESPN, CNN, and CNN Business for the past few days along with Harry Potter for relaxation. All this unusual amount of reading is for the sake of being able to share my opinion in more sophisticated conversations with evidence to support my stance.
From ESPN:
I hate Terrell Owens because he is an asshole; however, after reading ESPN, i can say that i hate TO because he doesn't attend practice, talk with coaches, or make any attempt to compromise. I'm not actually sure why he is so upset but i believe TO wants to be traded since he and McNabb had a fight at the Superbowl. Kenny Rogers of the Texas Rangers is back playing baseball without any repercussions from the league for shoving two must've been snobby camera people. I think the media is getting a little too nosy but it just might be their job. A's are sadly getting slaughtered by the Angels, but i think the A's will make it to the playoffs with their great roster. Even if the A's don't win the coveted World Series, the next years should be great when the younger players start to mature.
From CNN:
I was happy to read that the shuttle Discovery made it back to Edwards Air Force Base safely despite the little piece of foam that hit the shuttle during the launch. The function of the foam on space shuttles is to prevent ice from forming on the external fuel tanks; however, what happened during the Columbia tragedy? A 1.2 IB hunk of foam from the Columbia was missing and the absence of that foam caused the explosion; however, what happened in the external fuel tank happened? Did the fuel in the tanks freeze and then combust causing an explosion?
On a sadder note, Dana Reeves, widow of Christopher Reeves, has lung cancer. It's weird that Dana Reeves has lung cancer because she reports she never smoked but maybe more light will be shed on this later.
On the business side, the Feds increased interest rates to 3.5%. I'm not sure what this means other than mortgage rates increasing, bank interest rates increasing, and that less cash will be circulating through the economy.
That's about it for now, Harry POtter is pretty interesting along with playing Guild Wars with Brian. It's fun although i DO get a little touchy when people make mistakes...it just sucks when you're so close to the objective and one mistake kills everyone in the party, but i shouldn't have overreacted...that's it for now, stay safe all

A Giant Week

Hey all, this week was pretty eventful especially the two Giants games i went to =D. The Giants games were very fun but the loss against the Rockies was discouraging but then the Giants came back and so far have beaten the Rockies twice! The Giants might be able to sweep a team over .500 and might possibly contend for the NL West Pennant which could be an interesting race. On Wednesday i went to a Rockies and Giants match-up which was the disapointing one; however, the seats were awesome! Dad, Lisa, and I got 2nd row tickets courtesy of Lisa's company and accompanying us was none other than Chang Kim who was pitching..! Want some pics? here they are.

Here's the Chen crew...i wonder what's up with my eye cause it seems to be twitching for some reason...maybe at the repulsiveness of the photographer of the picture =D. jk

There's Chang getting ready to pitch! what's amazing is that he looks lifesize since the seats were so close...the whole game was awesome stuff!

These two unknown guys are contending for which one is gonna piss me off the most during the entire game. Those two and the girls sitting behind them would not stop arguing about ridiculous things. I honestly frankly don't give a caboose's wasted engine fluid about how repulsive the beer must taste or how you're both being hypocrits or what the definition of class is...i know it's a baseball game but please shut the fuck up sometimes okay champ? dumb frat guys...BTW the one on the bottom corner is the one that doesn't shut up and the one to his right is the tool who's a suck-up being dominated by the drunkard

Okay now on Friday i went to the Giants game against the Astros. First the Astros are actually above .500 enough said so i expected this to be a loss but thankfully Dan and I took Brian and Brian's luck gave just what the Giants needed to win against the Astros!

Okay here's me in a close-up that Dan took...okay moving on!

Here's Brian showing his enthusiasm for the Giants! The look and the blatant advertising of the Giants on that cup and how he proudly presents it just means we got a new Giants fanatic in the works!

It was a great week and summer school ended! So i'll be lazy at home chilling and playing Guild Wars maybe and possibly volunteering at the animal shelter...we shall see...in the meantime, keep on checking cause i'll keep on updating =D

Back from Yosemite

Hey all, i got back from a weekend trip with some relatives from Yosemite yesterday (Sunday). All in all it was a good trip, had its ups and downs and it definently went left and right while my dad was driving the mini-van (my neck still hurts going side to side). I'll let the images tell the story really so here they are!

Hey folks, when you see a sign like the one above near spikes like the ones shown above, u get a combination of a warning sign and spikes and those combined with tires going the WRONG WAY is not a good thing, in fact u can bet your tires are gonna get punctured and go flat...and surprisingly enough my dad drove over those spikes the wrong way without seeing them and indeed popped a tire...we were fortunate enough to get it replaced. My dad and i actually tried to replace the tire by using the standard jack but when the jack was at its peak the car rolled off the jack and broke it! Thank God there was someone else to help us and we got the tire replaced and even got replacement tires before the day had ended...we were lucky...VERY lucky.

So we all arrived on Friday and this is now Saturday. We decided to tour the Yosemite Valley which was gorgeous but fricken HOT . I couldn't get through half an hour with my hands starting to dry up and it wasn't comfortable at all. But here is the whole vacationing trip (minus me cause i was taking the picture!)

I was getting a little tired so i decided to let my mom piggy back me! It was a pretty short lived trip but it was fun =P

Although these two were a handful, my two cousins Winny and Fred were full of life and energy...something i lacked the entire trip so to make up for my lethargic behavior over the weekend, here is a tribute to two of my younger cousins =D

After the tour of Yosemite Valley the whole family (except my mom) decided to go swimming at the nearby lake. The water was great temperature...very warm and relaxing. Here's the whole Taiwan Krew at the beach and catching some rays =D.

Here in the water is my uncle and my cousins enjoying the water and the sun after a hot day and to the left is me!

The trip was fun and i was sad when my relatives all left to go back to Taiwan. I think it's ridiculous how much the little boys and girls across the Pacific Ocean have to endure when it comes to academics. Not only do they have to wake up sooner than most middle and high school students, but almost all college students and adults! My cousins start class at 7:30 in the freaking morning and on top of the homework they get, they have to go get some tutoring and it's basically required! They have some work to do and the stress it's almost ridiculous and despite the fact i can't do anything about it i can still complain about it...in fact you might want to check out my rants section *hint hint* Anywayz, the trip was fun but i'm glad to be back and ready to go out with the friends and speak English =D

Disco Bowling Night!

At Palo Alto Bowl on Tuesdays there are disco bowling nights when u pay 13 bucks for 3 hours of bowling fun. The guys and I (Nick, Marvin, Brian, Mike, and Luke) went out to have a little bit of fun (sadly Kyle Terada is sick and couldn't make it). The night was normal and Marvin came out winning 2 games out of 4 but i would've kicked his ass on the 5th game if everyone didn't wuss out =X. It was great fun and here's the recaps!

Okay i know like everyone can't see the bleach spot, but Marvin's pants had soaked up a little too much bleach on the part covering the ass. The white bleach in combination with the flourscent lights (or w/e makes the color white stand out) made Marvin's ass a little uhh...more noticeable. If you enlarge the picture u can faintly see a blue streak slashing against Marvin's ass. Good stuff Marv.

we all start pretty modestly getting number scores and not a whole lot of marks. Luke and Nick are pretty equal mid game but then Luke blazes past everyone with 3 strikes to take the win at 168 points. Mike has his consistent spares but will that last? Nice job Luke on winning and Marvin well was in a basic slump for the first four frames but then double striked (almost a turkey) and ended with 9 pins at the end...where did that come from? Nick kept up with Luke but then got burned...u suck =D Warm ups are over now.

Some of us start to go pretty smoothly, either getting 8-9 pins or a spare and occasional strike. Mike loses his consistency but still manages to break 100, not bad. Nike does fairly well but not good enough to go against the two true competitors in this game: Luke and Marvin ?? . Marvin breaks out of his shell in true Terminator fashion and hits 8-9 pins almost every frame and strikes/spares the rest and takes the win at 145...impressive.

This is where yours truly (me) steps up to the lane and creams everyone. I spared almost all the frames and had a few strikes so the consistency beat everyone by a good 40 pins. Everyone was just lagging behind getting tired...sad =D. Everyone is losing their touch..except me =D

At this point in the game, there's unexpected spectator (unexpected b/c i didn't think he'd show) and that would be Brian Yeh! Obviously Brian is a little camera shy but he still has a space in the blog for future embarassment...nobody knows what he looks like behind the arms and hands but it's rumored that he looks like this:

Okay i'm too lazy to do another recap so basically i jump out to a quick lead and then embarassingly enough (a choke almost comparable to the Yankees against Red Sox) lost to Marvin and Luke at the end.

Then people got tired and left but the last game done with me leading so Marvin and I are tied 2 games to 2 games =D.

Return of the Fonz

On Friday (yea it's a few days late):
I went to the Giants game against the Marlins, a formidable and pretty solid team from Florida with my sister Lisa and my Dad. The game was going to be tough but i have an oustanding lifetime record of only witnessing two losses out of all the Giants games i've been to. I was hoping that my luck would push the Giants over the Marlins. My luck seemed to have helped the Giants. The Marlins jumped out with three unanswered runs to make it 3 to 0 in favor of the Marlins in the first two innings! But then Edgardo Alfonso, making his first appearance since coming back from the major leagues, hits a double to score in two runs to make it 3 to 2! Pedro Feliz then singles to get in Alfonso to tie the game! The Giants went through the game with solid offense with a solo shot home run and then 4 other additional runs! The Marlins only answered with two runs and therefore the ending score was 5 to 8 in favor of the Giants. It was a great game with the entertainment and almost most importantly, the FOOD. I had garlic fries as usual and a hot dog with plenty of ONIONS...ladies beware if you go with me to a Giants game cause i'll have very kissable breath =D.

Some other pictures:

Lisa and Dad played rolled up some torn napkins and tried to throw them into my empty soda cup as sport for some odd reason...altho SOME of those balls were thrown suspiciously onto my shoulder and perhaps into my sweater...the truth will never be known but the cup and only ball EVER thrown are displayed.

Finally, the Giants are victorius over the Marlins and march onto the field to high five one another and the night of garlic fries, onions, and hot dogs has ended.

Life as usual

I haven't updated in a while and i haven't done anything really to the site except add a picture to go with the title.
